This edition of the Sideswept Dhoti comes in a subtle Graph Grey, a chambray weave using black thread on the warp and white on the weft, creating the illusion of a grey fabric. Appearing like points on graph paper, this soft chambray fabric was handloomed in Andhra Pradesh by rural handloom cooperative Dastkar Andhra.
Model is a US Size 4, wears Matter Size 1. 174cm tall.
PS. Due to the make of this particular Handloom fabric, this pair fits just a little bit smaller than our regular size 1s. There's no need to size down if you fall under the size 1 measurements, as it'll just be a little more fitted.
Wrap around the waist or hip for a snug final fit. Elegant and effortless, the gentle folds from the side pocket are balanced with side darts to give a skimming effect.
100% light weight cotton. Soft and breathable. Colour and weaving variations may occur, part of the charm of handloomed fabrics.
Changes in colour and structure with exposure to natural surroundings, washing or wearing may occur.
Wash separately in first few washes to prevent colour runs. After that, machine wash with similar colours. For best results, handwash cold or use delicate machine wash. Do not tumble dry. Line dry inside-out. Cool iron inside-out.
I absolutely loved these pants and expected these to be my go-to pant for both dressy and casual Summer wear, but unfortunately the crotch area ripped very badly on only the 3rd wear and I am crushed (I was just walking when I felt it rip)! I am somewhat petite (5'4" size 0/2) and ordered the small but could feel the crotch area was tight if sitting on the floor / folding my legs. I also couldn't bike in these as the crotch area would prevent me from swinging my leg over the seat to mount the bike. The fit/style was otherwise perfect and I would pay again to have these pants in a more durable material!
These fit amazingly standing up - great in the waist, legs... at 5'11", I was so excited to have something flattering and high waisted. But the first time I sat down, there was an immediate split in the back. Tiny, and I tried to stitch it up, but this fabric is so thin that it just immediately unravels around the thread. I got another pair in Size 3 - those are a bit too large in the thigh, but I have hope of taking them in. Sad for the waste of $100 on that first pair, though...an expensive lesson. Size up and then take them to a tailor.
I was nervous about the ordering sight unseen from so far away (Europe), but I needn't have worried. Both of my trousers were superb quality (although for me the side lunghi was a more natural fit than the sideswept dhoti), and the service was wonderful. I'm a fan and plan to return for some tops in the future.
Versatile and so comfy!
