Inspired by the Japanese work pants, we took the traditional silhouette and reinterpreted it in a timeless monochrome scheme. The beauty of Chambray is in its process, patta - the gradient colour variation, are marks of the weavers taking a break from the loom.
Model wears Matter Size 1.
A D-ring waist belt and three-button closure for flexibility and easy adjustability. Complete with three pockets - two aligned with the side seams, and another asymmetrically-positioned in the back.
100% light weight cotton. Soft and breathable. Colour and weaving variations may occur, part of the charm of handloomed fabrics.
Changes in colour and structure with exposure to natural surroundings, washing or wearing may occur.
Wash separately in first few washes to prevent colour runs. After that, machine wash with similar colours. For best results, handwash cold or use delicate machine wash. Do not tumble dry. Line dry inside-out. Cool iron inside-out.
I love my printed monpe so much. So I didn't need much persuasion to get the Chambray ones. To be honest, I didn't like the Chambray cousin at first. Chambray seemed and felt more rugged compared to the softness of the Trikora. A couple of washes later, the chambray settles into a softer version of itself and that was when I started to appreciate its tactile beauty better. For starters, the drape and pleat details are much more evident in the Chambray. The woven textures are also much more discernible, especially when I'm not distracted by the prints. Now (like children), its hard to pick a favourite.
This is my first piece from Matter Prints. I am 1.58m and 52kg and bought size 1. Size P was not available when i first bought it. So i adjusted the position of the button to fit my waist. I wear it very frequent and the colour did not fade off after a couple of years of wearing. The only thing i didn't like is the metal buckle which is awkward to wear in public toilet as I need to make sure the strap does not touch the floor. So that took 1 star off. Otherwise, the style, good workmanship and quality deserve 5 stars.
The Modern Monpe + Chambray Black
I'm short but also not skinny so I think these are just an awkward fit for me, and the way the waist functions is weird on me. The legs are slightly too long and the seat a bit too poofy to look good on me, but I like them as loungewear at home. The waist is very customizable to waist-size and that's awesome but also a bit weird to get used to. Definitely recommend to taller people.
Got this pair for my husband and he absolutely loves it!
