The spectacularly bold motif in Teal is designed by Anya Lim from Anthill Fabric Gallery, its geometrical, angular rhythm is inspired by the Philippines' namesake as the Sunshine Nation, the rays on the sun in the national flag and carvings on a local gong called Kulintang. Made for low-slung waist wearing, the Monpe gives a comfortable fit with its loose silhouette.
Model wears Matter Size 1. 172cm tall.
A D-ring waist belt and three-button closure for flexibility and easy adjustability. Complete with three pockets - two aligned with the side seams, and another asymmetrically-positioned in the back.
A blend of 95% cotton and 5% linen. Blockprinted with azo-free dyes. Colour variations may occur, a part of the charm with this hand-printed fabric.
Wash separately the first few washes to prevent colour runs. After that, machine wash with similar colours. For best results, handwash cold or use delicate machine wash. Do not tumble dry. Line dry inside-out. Cool iron inside-out.
I've pretty much lived out of these since working from home became the norm. They are as comfy as PJs but dressy enough for zoom and beyond the house. The unusual button-D ring duo closure work very well to cater to different sizes, shapes and looks so its a win for me!
These pants have a rather unattractive waistband that has metal toggles than is not shown in photos on line. If I had seen that likely would not have ordered.
My third pair of Monpe pants! Love the comfort and practicality! The only thing is this print somehow makes me look bigger compared to the other two pairs.
This second monpe has confirmed it for me that I'm defo a monpe otaku! The colour is true to the photos, and looks really good in person. Very comfy fabric, very well made, and despite having washed it thrice now, its still looking in the same condition as when I first received it; colour hasn't faded even a tad. The 3 roomy pockets are also deeply appreciated. Really makes this an almost everyday piece. Absolutely love my monpes!
