Inspired by the multifold drapes of the Indian dhoti, this version comes in the Kirana motif. One from the archives – Kirana is a full moon reimagined against a calm midsummer night with a sky full of stars. It speaks to a time of peace and tranquility that reigned over the land
Nadia fits a US Size 4, she is 165cm tall and wears Matter Size 1.
Wrap around the waist or hip for a snug final fit. Elegant and effortless, the gentle folds from the side pocket are balanced with side darts to give a skimming effect.
100% medium weight cotton. Selectively bundled and dyed by hand with azo-free dyes, the threads are then handloomed. Colour and weaving variations may occur, as it is a part of its charm.
Wash separately the first few washes to prevent colour runs. After that, machine wash with similar colours. For best results, handwash cold or use delicate machine wash. Do not tumble dry. Line dry inside-out. Cool iron inside-out.
I've been lurking on Matter's site for the longest time and finally took the plunge and purchased this piece in Size 2 (am usually a UK 10 - 12 / US 6 - 8 for bottoms) during their sale in December 2019. I'm quite bottom-heavy and was worried that my hips would look huge in this piece, but the high-waisted style definitely helped to even the proportions out. The cotton fabric is exceptionally comfortable (feels like I'm in my PJ's!) and they're excellent for travel because of the lack of buckles that set off the metal detectors at the security checks. Admittedly they are slightly difficult to get in and out of when using the bathroom, but if we can deal with cumbersome jumpsuits, this one's a breeze once we get used to the fabric straps and tying!
